Overview
During the pandemic, a huge gap in our medical infrastructure was noticed. One of the main concerns was the lack of beds and isolation zones. An on-demand, portable structure was conceptualised to be effective solution to this issue. ZENAIR aims to answer this issue, with an inflatable structure which can be added as an extension to any existing structure.
Background
An air - inflated isolation facility due to it’s portable structure and cost efficiency, was thought to be a suitable solution to the shortage of beds during the pandemic. The modules can be stored, and used as per the requirement. They can be multi-use as well.
Approach
The modules were conceptualised so that they can be attached to any existing medical structure as an extra additional entity. They would be using the resources, while providing a safe zone on site. Being air inflated, they would be easy to assemble and could be extended as per the site restrictions.






Assembly
The Zenair modules can be assembled in as little as 30 minutes on site. After the delivery of the modules the components would be assembled on site. Using air draw from outside with a centrifugal fan, the structured would be inflated. These would then be further stabilised with the PVC framing for the shell of the modules. Using constant airflow, the shell structure can be ready for use in minutes. These shells can then be fitted with necessities like furniture. Using HEPA filteration and an on-site waste tank collection system, a portable WC system can be installed in the modules. These then become self-contained units which can be used as isolation zones.

Modules
A single module would thus be equipped with all essentials and necessities such as a bed, a desk, and a functional bathroom with aa filteration system, and waste collection tank system. These units would be connected through a central tube like structure with a positive pressure zone, such that they can act as an extension of the permanent structures on site.
